FI is short for Facility Income. Like all things in life nearly everything in the Combine costs something. If you want to hire an NPC, you need credits, if you want to have a weapon, you need credits and if you want to have a ship, guess what you need - yes - credits. There are more activities which need credits, for example, construction, production and mining. So it is good to have a monthly income from facilities in order to cover all these costs. There are several facilities in Star Wars Combine which can give the owner or manager an credit income on a monthly base. Facility Income can go to a character or to a faction.

Facility Income is a way to receive an income within the Combine. Everything costs and so the players need a source of credit income. Among all other facilities in the combine, there a some facilities which can create a monthly income for players and factions.

In order to receive it, you can build or buy a facility, take care, that you are the manager and look for somebody with a high trade skill, who is willing to be the operator of your facility. There is also a market for renting facilities. Some factions offer this service. You pay them a certain number of credits and they make you manager of it.

Which facilities can create income?

Currently only facilities on planets can create an income. The list of facilities that can generate an income is found on the facilities rules page.

The most common facilities for FI are Taverns, Hotels and Offices. In general, these will generate between 20k and 50k credits per month.

Which conditions need to be fulfilled in order to receive an income?

To receive a monthly income from a facility. several conditions must be met.

  • The facility's crewlist must be set Open To All. This may be a security risk. If you plan to store items in your facility, you may not want to have it set to open for all.
  • The facility must have an operator and that operator must be active (logged in within the past week). A high Trade skill is preferable as this gets the best income.
  • The facility must have a manager. If the manager is a player, he or she must be active. To receive the income, this shall be you.
  • The facility must be powered. You may want to construct your power generators in order to ensure that your facility creates an income. If the owner of the generator shuts down your access to electricity your facility cannot give you an income.

Who receives the income?

The income always goes to the manager of a facility. Note that there are some facilities needing a special manager in order to create an income.

These are:

  • ATM, Bank : Banking Faction
  • Chapel, Church, Temple, Cathedral : Religious Faction
  • Hospital : Medical Faction
  • Starport : Transport or Government Faction

How is income calculated?

There are several variables determining if the income from a facility is positive and how large it is.

Income = 350 * FIM * PIM * TSM * SBR * RAND

The above used variables stand for:

  • FIM = Facility income modifier
  • PIM = Planetary income modifier
  • TSM = Trade Skill Modifier
  • SBR = Sustainable Business Restrictions
  • RAND = Random number between 0.9 and 1.1

Each facility has a Facility Income Modifier. For example a Casino shall create more income then a simple Personal Residence. This number is not revealed to the users and determines how large income of a facility can be compared to other facilities.

Planetary statistics like population or employment rate have influence on the income a facility can create. A planet with only some hundred inhabitants may not have a need for a starport, so the income of said starport shall be lower then the income of one on a fully developed planet with millions of population. This aspect is accommodated with the Planetary Income Modifier.

The amount of positive income may be limited to the economic knowledge of the operator. His skills are regarded in the Trade Skill modifier.

Income will suffer due to oversupply, for example a small planet may only be able to support one casino. If another casino were placed, the net income may not increase as there is not enough planetary demand. This is called the MNSF, is secret and is calculated planetwide.

Debt

It is possible for facilities to incur a debt. This will be shown through the inventory and must be paid off by the owner or manager. If it is not paid off, the facility risks being repossessed by the market.
