In the Combine, if you have several ships of the same type, you can set them to follow you.
How-To
In order to create a squadron, you MUST have "Pilot" privileges for the ships you wish to use.
Step One: Click "Ships", under the "Inventory" tab on your sidebar.
Step Two: Now, click on the "Manage Piloted Ships" tab.
Step Three: You are now on the "Manage Piloted Ships" screen. This is where you will begin forming the squadron.
Step Four: To the left of all of the pictures of the ships, there is a checkbox. Check the box next to the ships you wish to create a squadron with. (However, they MUST be of the same type)
Step Five: There is a drop-down box below the ships. It is titled "Select Action". Click on it to drop it down and bring up more options.
Step Six: Select "Set Controller" and click "Process".
