Firstly, welcome to the Star Wars Combine (SWC). It is likely that you have already created your account, but there are several important points below that you should keep in mind.

First Page
When you click the link to join, the first page displays the terms and conditions for the game. Also, take note of the Multi Account warning just below. Players in Star Wars Combine (SWC) are allowed one account only, and therefore one character. Due to the nature of the game, having multiple accounts can give a significant and unfair advantage to those players. SWC is based around communities of players, and making multiple accounts to by-pass this is treated harshly.

It is permissible for multiple players to access SWC on the same Internet connection, however they must register themselves as such, in order that the administration can accurately track the player base. Please note that this type of account will be checked, as well as other accounts that appear on the same IP, and any determined to be owned by the same player will be banned for a set period of time (usually 30 days).

Second Page
This is where you set up the various details of your account, and your first character's name.

Character Handle
This is what you would like to have as your character's name. It is also what you use to log in to SWC. There are a series of handle rules which you should be aware of. Any accounts that have names that do not meet these requirements will be rejected out of hand, necessitating that you re-apply.

E-mail
This is the email where your confirmation will be sent.

Personal Information
These sections are not required, and will not be viewable by other players unless you wish to allow them to do so.

Contact Information
Like personal information, this is not required and will not be viewable unless you allow it.

Other Information
Though not required, the drop down box helps the administration to determine which method is the best to advertise the game in order to obtain new players.

The 'multi' text box is for those new players that will be using the same Internet connection as an existing player. Enter the existing player's handle in the box (separate with a comma if there are multiple players) and the administration will look into it and add you as necessary.

Prospecting in the Star Wars Combine is attempting to find a Raw Material deposit. RM deposits are on every planet and theoretically can be found in every square, however only 1 deposit can be found per surface square at a time. If the current mineral deposit has been completely mined out the server will re-roll a new deposit on the square which may later be discovered by Prospecting.

Requirements for Prospecting
* Be in the square you wish to prospect.
* You must be on the surface of a planet or inside a city to prospect (or above in the atmosphere if using FK-7 speeders).
* Be assigned as pilot of a prospecting vehicle.
* Be inside the assigned prospecting vehicle.

How to Prospect
* Starting onboard a ship with vehicles loaded onboard.
* From your sidebar click [Position]
* Under Travel Move Right or East until you see the prospecting vehicles listed in your position.
* Click Enter on one of these vehicles.
* From your sidebar click [Position]
* Under Travel Move Left or West 1 time.
* From your sidebar click [Vehicles], at the top click on Manage Piloted Vehicles.
* On the left select each of the vehicles to be used, upto 11 vehicles. Do not select the one you are in, yours will show a mouse icon in upper left corner.
* Under the vehicles click on SELECT ACTION drop down. Choose SET CONTROLLER and choose SET NPC CONTROLLED, then PROCESS. Review that each of the selected vehicles have NPC in the upper left corner of icon.
* From your sidebar click [Enter Cockpit]
* Under Travel click Undock.
* From the cockpit click [Actions]
* In the frame below, click [Prospect]. If you cannot see the prospect button, ensure the requirements above are met.
* The frame will present estimates for your prospecting action, including cost and time, it will also show a map of all found deposits on the planet.
* When you wish to start prospecting, click [Start Prospect].
* The finishing time will be shown at the top of your cockpit, you do not need to be online when it finishes.
* When it finishes, you will be given an event with the prospecting results.
* When finished Click on Travel, dock, then choose your ship.
* From your sidebar click [Position]
* Under Travel move right or east one time. Click on exit.
* From your sidebar click [Position]
* Under Travel move left or West until you reach the Cockpit.
* From your sidebar click [Enter Cockpit]
* Travel to your next location and start prospecting there. Times are faster for movement if you dock and move your ship then just taking the prospectors to the next location

Recommendations
* Have a high Computer Operations skill while prospecting, as this helps against missing deposits.
* Use a squadron of 12 prospecting vehicles (yours plus 11 NPC piloted vehicles) when prospecting, so that you can pool your sensors.
Equations
Prospecting takes between 6 and 12 hours, depending on your vehicle choice and skill. During this time, you will be unable to move your vehicle.

Prospecting will cost around 11,000 credits, varying based on the tax and crime rate of the planet scanning. The owner of the prospecting vehicle will pay the cost at the start of a prospecting session.

The full equations for prospecting can be found on the mining rules page.
Use this chart to figure out exactly what chance you have of discovering a deposit.

Find your CompOps level and find the number of FK-7s or SX-65 Groundhogs, and that is your modifier to multiply by the terrain Percentage.

For example: A Prospector with a Computer Operations skill of 4 controls 11 FK-7s, and is scanning on Jungle Terrain.
Using the chart his modifier is 3.367 multiplied by the terrain probability of Jungle, at 4. So his chance at finding a deposit is 13.468%.

Arrest and Execute

Zhao Yun: /* How Do I Arrest? */

Arrest and Execute is the primary form of combat currently used against different players. It is more a form of police action than full blown combat, and as such there are a number of restrictions on who can use it, and where.

What Do I Need?
In order to be able to perform an arrest and an execution, you need to meet some requirements:

* Be a member of a faction
* Have the 'Arrest' privilege
* Have a pair of Stun Cuffs equipped in your hands (if arresting a player)
* Meet one of the territory requirements below

Government, Mercenaries, Bounty Hunter and Security Factions
These four factions are special in that they can arrest over a large variety of locations. They can both arrest their own members and NPCs (called In Faction arrest, or IF A/E) at any time, and in any location, regardless of which faction's territory they are in. They can arrest the members and NPCs of other factions and players (called Out Of Faction arrest, or OOF A/E) in the following areas:

* Any planet they control
* Any system they control
* Any sector they control
* Any capital ship they own
* Any space station they own
* Deep Space and uncontrolled sectors

These factions can also be authorised by other factions to be able to perform OOF arrests in any of their terrain, classified as below.

All Other Factions
All other factions are limited to arresting their own members (called In Faction arrest, or IF A/E). They can arrest their own members and NPCs at any time, and in any location, regardless of which faction's territory they are in. They can authorise Government, Mercenaries, Bounty Hunter and Security factions to arrest in their territory however, classified as the following areas:

* Any planet they control
* Any system they control
* Any sector they control
* Any capital ship they own
* Any space station they own

Special Exceptions
There are several special conditions that modify who can arrest at a location:

* Uncontrolled systems are considered territory for the faction that controls the sector it is in
* Uncontrolled planets are considered territory for the faction that controls the system it is in
* Capital ships in hyperspace are considered territory for the faction that owns it, otherwise no arrest is possible in hyperspace
* Docked entities that are inside a Capital ship or Space Station are considered territory of the faction that owns the Capital ship or Space Station
* The square above a planet is considered territory of that planet's controller, regardless of if the system controller is different

How Do I Arrest?
You will need to meet the requirements above. In addition, you will need to be at the same location as the player of NPC you are trying to arrest. You will need to have an Arrest Warrant issued before arresting (see below), otherwise you will not be able to arrest them. Once you have a warrant you need to use the Position page to initiate your arrest, as follows:

* ::Control::
* Click [Position].
* Click the [Scanner] button on the central horizontal bar.
* Scroll through the list on the left to the player or NPC you wish to arrest.
* Click the [Arrest] button underneath their name.
* Click the confirmation button that appears on the right.
* If there is no warrant, or you are arresting an NPC, you will be required to issue a warrant before confirmation.
* The player or NPC is now arrested.

They will have the Arrest overlay put over their avatar image, allowing you to tell which are arrested, and which are not. In addition the Stun Cuffs will be unequipped from you and equipped on the arrested players hands (if you are arresting a player). In addition, any items that were equipped on the arrested player are dropped on the ground.

Issuing a Warrant
Warrants can be issued for both players and NPCs. NPCs do not have unique names, and so the warrant must be issued just as you arrest them. Players do have unique names, and so can have arrest warrants issued a long time before the arrest attempt is made. This is useful for preparing warrants and allowing members that do not have the 'Issue Arrest Warrant' Privilege to be able to arrest. However, like NPCs, player warrants can be issued when arresting them.

Success And Failure of Arrest
Arresting is not a guaranteed success and there are a variety of different variables that will determine whether you manage to arrest them or not. Players set up their arrest reactions, dependant on who is arresting them (see the Character options), while NPCs owned by a faction will use the reactions determine by the faction (see the Faction Page options). The person being arrested will determine which skills are used for the attempt, based on the reaction they choose. The possible reactions and the relevant skills are below:

Method || Primary Skill || Secondary Skill
Talk || Diplomacy || Trading
Run || Speed || Vigour
Hide || Target: Stealth; arrester: Perception || Dexterity
Fight || Strength || Projectile or Non-Projectile Weapons (whatever is higher)

Primary skills are used at their full value, while Secondary skills are used at half their value. There is also an element of randomness in the arrest chance.

Arrest Protection
If you are attempting to arrest a player or NPC that is not in or owned by your faction, and you fail, they will gain immunity to arrest. This immunity prevents anyone, from any faction arresting them, and lasts for 24 hours.

Releasing a prisoner, or failing to arrest a player or NPC in or owned by your faction will not activate this immunity.

You're Arrested, Now What?
When you are arrested, you will loose access to many of SWC features. These are primarily in-game activities, and being able to access forums etc will not be hindered. While arrested you can:

* not move freely - you are at the whims of other players who can move you around
* not access your Inventory pages (personal or faction)
* not access you Faction Page
* not leave or join a faction
* send Messages
* access the Forums

Release
You can be released at any time. A player or NPC can be released from arrest by a member of the arresting faction who has issue arrest privileges. A player or NPC can also be broken out of arrest by another character at the same location who has an Electronic Lock Breaker item equipped. The Stun Cuffs that were equipped on the arrested player will be dropped at that location.

Drop Character
If a character has been arrested for more then 3 weeks he will get the option to turn his character into an NPC and recreate as a new character. The NPC will have the same handle and race as the character had. Any assets will follow the same rules as when a character is killed. The button to drop your character will appear in The Interface area, under your character image three weeks after you have been arrested.

The waiting time after dropping a character is one week.

Execution
Once a player or NPC is arrested, you can then execute them. Anyone that has the relevant privs in the faction that originally arrested can perform an execution.

To perform an execution, you need to do the following:

* ::Control::
* Click [Position].
* Click the [Scanner] button on the central horizontal bar.
* Scroll through the list on the left to the player or NPC you wish to arrest.
* Click the [Arrest] button underneath their name.
* Click the [Execute] button that appears on the right.
* Click the confirmation button.
* The player or NPC is now killed.

Upon Death a couple of things are possible. When an NPC is killed, they no longer exist, and leave nothing behind. Players that are executed will leave a 'Body' on the ground that can be seen in the [Scanners] page. This body will remain for 3 weeks before disappearing. You can remove a trophy ear from this body if you so wish (see below). Assets that player owned will be distributed amongst the galaxy as per the death rules (see earlier link).

Trophies
You can cut off a Trophy so long as you have a bladed Non-Projectile Weapon such as a Knife. To do so, do the following:

* ::Control::
* Click [Position].
* Click the [Scanner] button on the central horizontal bar.
* Scroll through the list on the left to the body you wish to get a trophy from.
* Click the [Get Trophy] button underneath their name.
* Pick up the Trophy item using the [Equipment] page.

Combat is actions that are used to attack or defend from other players and similar. There is a variety of different aspects to combat, as below.

A/E
See Arrest and Execute

This is the main form of combat present at this time. It is the process where a player captures another player or NPC and then kills them. There are some severe restrictions as to its use, primarily that places where you can perform an A/E is limited by which faction you are in, and what territory they control.

Simply put its a skill check of the arrester against a skill check of the defender, and a sucessful attempt means that the target is then arrested. As an NPC they cannot do anything. As a player, they have limited access to any of the game interface, being able to access the forums and messaging.

Shields
See Shields

This is a defensive application mainly, used to prevent unwanted passage of players to the planets surface. If a Shield Generator is linked to a Computer Control Center, then anyone on the Computer Control Center's Crewlist will have access through the shield, and can pass as though it was not there. It prevents travel both to and from the planets surface.

Creature Combat
See Creature Combat

This is a form of combat where players use weapons to attack cratures that spawn on planets surfaces. An aggression level determines the chance that the creature will spontaneously attack the player, and each has a different attack that they will use against the player.
