Equipping items is a useful ability that allows you to wear armour, carry guns, and hold a variety of different pieces of equipment.

The Equipment Page
This page is where you deal with all your needs with regard to moving items around. It consists of several areas:

* On the far left you will see a green outline of a man, with several boxes dotted around it. This is what you currently have equipped to your character. There are several different slots for items, and each different item will have a restriction on which slots it can be equipped to. These slots are:
* Head
* Chest
* Cloak
* Belt
* Right Hand
* Left Hand
* Back
* Across the top are a selection of buttons that allow you to navigate to other position interfaces such as Travel and Party.
* Just under these buttons there is a Drop Box - this allows you to unequip items (see below).
* Item list will be under this and will show all the items laying on the floor in this room, sorted by category.

Using the Page
This page is powerful, and allows you to do a lot of things. However, not everything is intuitive.

Equipping an Item
TO equip any item, make sure you know which slot it can be equipped to (see the Rules page for the item - it will say there) and where this slot is on the image on the top left. Then simply click and hold on the image of the item you wish to equip, and drag it over to the relevant slot. Release the mouse button, and the item will be equipped.

If you tried dragging the item to the wrong slot, or there is insufficient weight/volume capacity remaining on you (see the bars below the equipped item image) then the item you dragged will simply return to where you dragged it from. You can equip any item at your location, even if you do not own it or otherwise have inventory access to it.

Unequipping an Item
This is very similar to equipping an item. Simply click and hold on the equipped item and drag it to the drop box just to the right. Release the mouse button, and the item will be dropped. If it does not, its probably because there is insufficient weight/volume capacity in the entity you are attempting to drop the item in.

Moving Items
Items can be moved by you equipping the items to yourself, moving to the new location, and then dropping the items. However if you have a large quantity of items to move, this can be extremely tedious. However there is a simple option to move the items en masse. Simply select the items you wish to move by either clicking the checkboxes next to the item image, or by clicking the category heading (ie Tools or Survival or Weapons) - this last will select all items in that category.

Once the desired items are selected, scroll to the bottom of the page. Under the Actions drop down menu, there will be two options:

Move Items: Into Room
This will appear at all times. Selecting this and clicking the [Process] button opens a new page. Here you can select the room ID of the room you wish to move the items to within the entity (you cannot move items into a room in another entity). These IDs are given on the [Travel] page when you enter that room, and any special rooms (such as the Entrance/Exit Room, Command Room etc will have their IDs listed here for you). Simple enter in the ID of the relevant room, and click the [Move Items] button, and the items will be moved.

Move Items: Load Entity
This only appears in the Entrance/Exit room, and allows you to load items into another entity nearby (ie a ship or vehicle etc). Clicking the [Process] button will load a new page with a selection of entities you can access nearby. Simply find the entity you wish to move the items to, and select the radio button next to its name and click the [Perform Command] button. The items will then be moved into the Entrance/Exit Room of that entity.

Other Commands
There are some other things you can do to items using the Actions menu:

Empty Selected Container
This allows you to remove items from a storage container. Choosing it will remove all items from inside and dump them on the floor of the room.

Stow Selected Items into
This allows you to store the selected items into a chosen storage item. Clicking the [Process] button will give you a selection of items at your location that have a cargo capacity. Simply select which item you wish to store the items into and click the [Stow into Containers] button. If there was sufficient space left inside, the items will now be stored within.

Repackage Items Into Crate
This allows you to return items to a Cargo Container if you wish to clean up the room, or organise for sales. You can only add items of the same type, and you can only add items that you own. Once you click [Process] the items will be removed and a new Cargo Container will appear that has a number of items inside equal to the number you added. BE WARNED: Any custom images applied to items that are then put back in a crate will loose those custom images.

In addition, there are several other options available by clicking the relevant button next to each item: ........ (continue)

Travel is the variety of actions you can perform that makes your character move around the game worlds. There are a variety of different travel methods, and these are listed below.

Set Travel
This type of travel uses a set time or distance that does not vary whenever you use this method of travel. It also requires less knowledge (generally) of your destination than for Variable Travel.

Cross Terrain
This type of travel involves moving between different city or terrain squares on a planets surface. This is performed by the following set of instructions:

* ::Controls::
* Click [Enter Cockpit] or [Position], depending on whether you are in a ship/vehicle or on foot.
* Choose the [Travel] option in the center tool bar.
* Choose [Cross-Terrain] button to the left side, under the main map view.
* Choose the terrain/city square that is next to your current one that you wish to travel to.
* Click [Accept] and your travel will begin.

You can only initiate this type of travel when you are on the very edge of the city/terrain square (ie at (0,0), or (21,4) etc). You will not have the [Cross-Terrain] option if you are not. Also, planet terrains do no 'wrap-around' so if you are on the northern most terrain square on a planet (say, (0,0)), you will not be able to move north and appear at the terrain square at the bottom of the column, and nor does that work horizontally.

The distance is fixed at 200km between city/terrain squares, so travel time will vary depending on how fast you/your ship/your vehicle can travel at.

Ascend/Descend
This type of travel is used when moving to and from a planets surface. There are 2 steps, where you move from the planet's surface to the atmosphere level, and then a further jump from there to orbit, which is in the system layer where you can move around the rest of the system (see later). This is performed by the following set of instructions:

Planet Surface -> Atmosphere
* ::Controls::
* Click [Enter Cockpit].
* Choose the [Travel] option in the center tool bar.
* Choose [Ascend] button next to the ETA counter and [Accept] button.

Atmosphere -> Orbit
* ::Controls::
* Click [Enter Cockpit].
* Choose the [Travel] option in the center tool bar.
* Click the [Planet] button to the left, under the map view.
* Click the [Orbit] button roughly in the center of the screen.

Orbit -> Atmosphere
* ::Controls::
* Click [Enter Cockpit].
* Choose the [Travel] option in the center tool bar.
* Click the [Descend] button to the left, under the map view.
* Click the map to the right where you would like to land.
* Click the [Accept] button.

Atmosphere -> Planet Surface
* ::Controls::
* Click [Enter Cockpit].
* Choose the [Travel] option in the center tool bar.
* Click the [Descend] button to the left, under the map view.
* Click the map to the right where you would like to land.
* Click the [Accept] button.

All four modes of transport can be performed by any ship that has Flight-Grade Repulsorlifts equipped. Vehicles that have Flight-Grade Repulsorlifts equipped can only ascend to the Atmosphere and descend from there to the Planet's Surface. Travel time for all four modes is 1 hour, regardless of the speed of your ship/vehicle.

Variable Travel
These modes of travel differ depending on what vehicle/ship you have, and your skill in piloting.

Room Travel
Room travel is travelling within a facility or ship. Travel between rooms is instantaneous and can be achieved by clicking on the room which you wish to travel to. You can only travel to rooms which are connected to the room you are in with a doorway.

Travel can be impeded by doors, which can be installed by a toolkit. If a door is installed within a doorway, you will need either a password, a keycard containing the password, or an electronic lock breaker in order to bypass it.

Passwords can be reset at any time by the owner of entity the door is within.

There are 6 different room types:

|| Normal Room - No special features.
|| Hangar Bay - Can board Vehicles stored within the entity here.
|| Docking Bay - Can board Ships stored within the entity here.
|| Entrance/Exit Room - Can leave the entity/board nearby entities from here.
|| Cockpit - Can enter the cockpit/building management page (If piloting the entity).
|| Medical Room - Bacta tanks can be deployed here.

Ground Travel
Ground travel is travelling within a city or on a terrain square. It can be accessed through both the position screen whilst on foot, or through the cockpit if at ground level in a ship or vehicle. Ground Travel allows you to travel through the streets of a city, or across terrain. Each 'Block' is 1km2 making terrain squares approximately 22km2 and facilities within cities enormous sprawling complexes many kilometres wide.

If on foot, travelling to another block can be achieved by clicking that block and clicking the "Go" button. Travelling on foot is very slow, due to the scale of the cities, and can often take hours to reach your destination.

If in a ship or a vehicle, travelling to another block can be achieved by selecting Travel >> City/Terrain >> Selecting the block from the lower map then clicking the "Go" button. Ships and Vehicles are restricted to 200km/h within cities, however, can travel at their full speed in open terrain.

Atmospheric Travel
Atmospheric travel is travelling within the atmosphere of a planet. It allows you to travel to other cities without cross terrain or ascending to orbit.

Certain vehicles can ascend to atmosphere, if they have the "Flight-Grade Repulsorlifts" trait.

To travel in atmosphere, you need to be in the atmosphere level of a planet, then Travel >> Atmosphere >> Select the terrain from the lower map, then click the "Go" button.

Sublight Travel
Sublight travel allows you to travel within a system. It can only be achieved by ships within the Space layer (orbit of a planet).

To travel within a system, you need to be in a system, in the cockpit of a ship, and click Travel >> Sublight >> Select the space or planet from the lower map, then click the "Go" button.

CAUTION Flying into suns can seriously harm your health, your ship and all occupants. Flying into suns, or 'Sunning', will kill your character and heavily damage the ship you are flying.

Factions (or 'Combine Member Groups) are more or less Guilds of SWC. They are collections of players that have gathered together under a mutual idea, agreement, or simply to make money. Not anyone can make a Faction, though anyone could lead one. The following should help you better understand Factions, what they are, what they can do and other related topics.

Factions are more than Guilds
Guilds are often an association of character or players. But Factions are more powerful in SWC than Guilds in most other games. They have advanced features to administrate their members and their assets. They can own things and allow their members to use them. Factions can even own other Factions. Factions can take on the role that companies, societies or even governments have in real life.

Making a Faction
Therefor making a faction is a lot more complicated than in many other games. A series of requirements need to be met before being able to create one. These are listed below:

* Capital - how much depends on which faction you are trying to make. Cheapest faction requires 30,000,000 credits in asset value.
* Start up Credits - this is either 15,000,000 credits for an Information faction, or 25,000,000 credits for any other faction.
* 7x7 facility - faction creation will convert a 7x7 facility owned by you into the faction HQ.
* Website - all factions require an off-site website that details various aspects of their faction.
* Art - several banners and logos are required to identify your faction.

Some requirements are different for different types of Factions.

Faction types
There are various types of factions. Examples of faction types would be government, mining or security. Not all game features are equally available to all types of factions, so that factions of different types will have to cooperate. For example a government will not be able to build ships for their navy without the help of a ship production type faction.

A full list of different faction types is available in the rules section:
Which conditions need to be fulfilled in order to receive an income?
To receive a monthly income from a facility. several conditions must be met.

The facility's crewlist must be set Open To All.

The facility must have an operator and that operator must be active (logged in within the past week).

The facility must have a manager. If the manager is a player, he or she must be active.

The facility must be powered.

Who receives the income?
The income always goes to the manager of a facility. Note that there are some facilities needing a special manager in order to create an income.

These are:

ATM, Bank : Banking Faction

Chapel, Church, Temple, Cathedral : Religious Faction

Hospital : Medical Faction

Starport : Transport or Government Faction

How is income calculated?
There are several variables determining if the income from a facility is positive and how large it is.

Income = 350 * FIM * PIM * TSM * SBR * RAND

The above used variables stand for:

FIM = Facility income modifier

PIM = Planetary income modifier

TSM = Trade Skill Modifier

SBR = Sustainable Business Restrictions

RAND = Random number between 0.9 and 1.1

Each facility has a Facility Income Modifier. For example a Casino shall create more income then a simple Personal Residence. This number is not revealed to the users and determines how large income of a facility can be compared to other facilities. Furthermore planetary statistics like population or employment rate have influence on the income a facility can create. A planet with only some hundred inhabitants may not have a need for a starport, so the income of said starport shall be lower then the income of one on a fully developed planet with millions of population. This aspect is accommodated with the Planetary Income Modifier. Also the success of making positive income may be limited to the economic knowledge of the operator. His skills are regarded in the Trade Skill modifier. But what happens if a planet prospers and skilled investors try to increase their income with placing more profitable facilities on a planet? Let us say a planet has enough people to provide a casino with a decent income. Now a tycoon starts to lay down more Casinos. He may create a larger supply, then the market demands. As a result the income of each Casino must be smaller then before. The Sustainable Business Restrictions try to take care of the problem and reduces income of each facility, if the offers are larger then the demands of the market. Last but not least there are some variables, which cannot be fully modelled and they are contained in the random number.

Production is the action that is used to create new entities for players and factions to use within SWC. Though production of different entities is roughly the same, there are certain aspects that will be different for each type.

Who Can Produce?
Any player can produce any of the assets that can be produced. However, there are certain restrictions that are placed on the player and/or the facility/station doing the production. These are explained in greater detail in each section, but generally the facility/station needs to be owned by the relevant faction, or it can be managed by that faction, but in this case the Operator must also be a member of that faction.

What Do I Need?
Production requires several things before you can start. The most obvious is a facility/station to do your producing in. The only exception to this is Facilities and Cities. There are restrictions on these, but again they are listed in the specific production pages below. You will also require Raw Materials as these are what the entities you are producing are made of. The rules pages will list what materials you need exactly, and it will show up on the production page as well.

You will also need Workers/Builders to do the work for you - you only start the production, the NPCs will continue it for you until they are finished. Which one, and roughly how many will be explained in detail in the links below. You will also require the Datacard for the relevant entity you are producing. This will be assigned to the facility/station you are producing in by the faction that controls the Datacard. If you are building a facility or station, you merely have to be in the correct faction. And finally, you will require the relevant privilages from the faction in order to start up production.

Specific Production
Below are the links to the specific pages that will explain each of the different production methods for the various entities that can be made. Some will be fairly similar to others, as that is the nature of the system. However there will be slight differences between them.

* Production (Cities)
* Production (Droids)
* Production (Facilities)
* Production (Items & Weapons)
* Production (Ships)
* Production (Space Stations)
* Production (Vehicles)

If you are looking to help update this Guide Wiki in order to help out, please read the follow information before making any changes.

DO NOT put any personal/faction acronyms, information or anything of that sort. This guide is primary an OOC work. There will be some IC information, but things like faction history, personal biographies etc are to be ignored. Anyone making such posts will find themselves banned from editing the wiki.

Working on the Wiki
If you wish to help out on the wiki, please create a new account using your SWC handle. This helps the administration to reward those players that help out considerably. There are two things you can do to pages, Edit or Create.

Editing
Likely you will be primarily editing pages that have already been created. All changes can be removed and the original work restored so don't worry about being able to destroy everything. Then again, if you don't know what you are doing please refrain for editing as it just creates more work for others.

Click the 'Edit' link at the top of each page to open the editing window. You will see special codes which if you are not used to wiki's may be weird. See the relevant section below for more information on the codes. When editing, you can type where ever you want to fix spelling errors, or add additional information. If you are making minor changes, such as adding links, or fixing errors, please tick the 'minor edit' check box just above the save page button.

If you are making a link to another wiki page, please check that you have the right page name. In wiki's names are very sensitive so 'The Force', 'the force', 'Force' and 'force' will all go to separate pages (these can be linked to one later however). If you are unsure of the correct page name, please do not insert a link and the moderators will do that for you.

Creating
You create a new page when you click on a red link that appear on an already present page. This will allow you to enter in information and create the page. When making a new page, please be aware of other similar pages to get a feel for the layout and style of the system we use.

If you are making a new page, please read up on the different formatting styles there are (below) in order to have the page look presentable after you finish. If you are unsure about anything, leave it formatting-free and one of the moderators will be around and fix it up. Once you have typed everything up, it is best to copy all the text before pressing the [Save page] button. This is because you may have lost your net connection or something else that prevents your page from being saved on the wiki, and having to re-type everything is not something you will want to go through.

Also, images are a useful visual method to show what you are talking about. Please ensure that any images on your page are not too large that they take up the whole space - use thumbnails to give a smaller image which can then be clicked onto get a larger one. See the 'Images' section below.

Images
On the wiki, we can upload images to be used on pages to give a visual indication of what the text is explaining. When making images to complement text, please use the Dark Blue theme skin on SWC, and ensure all icons and text are set to normal size. This is to ensure that everything is consistent and allow reference for players from one page to another.

Also, please ensure that you use the minimum area required to show off what you want. Please no full-screen captures just posted in. Use an image editing software (like Photoshop) to cut out the area of the screen you need. Please save images in .png format to avoid too much loss in quality. When saving, please make the name of the image relevant to what you have an image about. Saving as 'Image1.png' helps no-one. Saving as 'Pevent.gif' is Personal Event icon.

Use the Upload file link on the left to upload your image. Once you have uploaded the image it will give you the file name (it will make sure that the first letter is capitalised). To use the image, you will need the image formating:

Add image ((File:Pevent.png))
Replace the () with the square brackets []

You can also add extra bits onto the end, and these are explained below.

Commands
Wiki's have special formatting tags they use, and the more common ones you may need are as follows (replace () with [], replace \ with | and replace ` with ' in the following codes):

``italic`` || italic || makes text italic
```bold``` || bold || makes text bold
((IRC)) || IRC || makes a link to a wiki page
((IRC\I love me)) || I love me || makes a link to a wiki page, but with the text 'I love me' showing on the page rather than IRC
(http://mylink.com My Link) || My Link || Provides a link to an external site, with the text My Link being highlighted
((File:Pevent.png)) || -- || shows an image hosted on the wiki site with that name
((File:Pevent.png\right\My Pictures)) || -- || as above, but you can say where on the page it goes (left, right, center), and text to be shown on the tooltip
Star Wars Combine (SWC) is a browser-based MMORPG set in the Star Wars universe. With many complex rules and interactions between players, factions and the game itself, this Guide is here to help you navigate the interface, understand various aspects of the game, and understand the mechanics behind the various activities you can perform.
If this is your first time playing SWC, it will be beneficial to look through the Getting Started and Basic Activities sections to get a broad understanding of some of the basic principles of the game.
Ryan Rochehttp://guide.swcombine.com/index.php?title=Arrest_and_Execute&diff=406Arrest and Execute2010-07-10T10:49:49Z
Ryan Roche:
Arrest and Execute is the primary form of combat currently used against different players. It is more a form of police action than full blown combat, and as such there are a number of restrictions on who can use it, and where.
What Do I Need?
In order to be able to perform an arrest and an execution, you need to meet some requirements:
* Be a member of a faction
* Have the 'Arrest' privilege
* Have a pair of Stun Cuffs equipped in your hands (if arresting a player)
* Meet one of the territory requirements below
Government, Mercenaries, Bounty Hunter and Security Factions
These four factions are special in that they can arrest over a large variety of locations. They can both arrest their own members and NPCs (called In Faction arrest, or IF A/E) at any time, and in any location, regardless of which faction's territory they are in. They can arrest the members and NPCs of other factions and players (called Out Of Faction arrest, or OOF A/E) in the following areas:
* Any planet they control
* Any system they control
* Any sector they control
* Any capital ship they own
* Any space station they own
* Deep Space and uncontrolled sectors
These factions can also be authorised by other factions to be able to perform OOF arrests in any of their terrain, classified as below.
All Other Factions
All other factions are limited to arresting their own members (called In Faction arrest, or IF A/E). They can arrest their own members and NPCs at any time, and in any location, regardless of which faction's territory they are in. They can authorise Government, Mercenaries, Bounty Hunter and Security factions to arrest in their territory however, classified as the following areas:
* Any planet they control
* Any system they control
* Any sector they control
* Any capital ship they own
* Any space station they own
Special Exceptions
There are several special conditions that modify who can arrest at a location:
* Uncontrolled systems are considered territory for the faction that controls the sector it is in
* Uncontrolled planets are considered territory for the faction that controls the system it is in
* Capital ships in hyperspace are considered territory for the faction that owns it, otherwise no arrest is possible in hyperspace
* Docked entities that are inside a Capital ship or Space Station are considered territory of the faction that owns the Capital ship or Space Station
* The square above a planet is considered territory of that planet's controller, regardless of if the system controller is different
How Do I Arrest?
You will need to meet the requirements above. In addition, you will need to be at the same location as the player of NPC you are trying to arrest. You will need to have an Arrest Warrant issued before arresting (see below), otherwise you will not be able to arrest them. Once you have a warrant you need to use the Position page to initiate your arrest, as follows:
* ::Control::
* Click [Position].
* Click the [Scanner] button on the central horizontal bar.
* Scroll through the list on the left to the player or NPC you wish to arrest.
* Click the [Arrest] button underneath their name.
* Click the confirmation button that appears on the right.
* If there is no warrant, or you are arresting an NPC, you will be required to issue a warrant before confirmation.
* The player or NPC is now arrested.
They will have the Arrest overlay put over their avatar image, allowing you to tell which are arrested, and which are not. In addition the Stun Cuffs will be unequipped from you and equipped on the arrested players hands (if you are arresting a player).
Issuing a Warrant
Warrants can be issued for both players and NPCs. NPCs do not have unique names, and so the warrant must be issued just as you arrest them. Players do have unique names, and so can have arrest warrants issued a long time before the arrest attempt is made. This is useful for preparing warrants and allowing members that do not have the 'Issue Arrest Warrant' Privilege to be able to arrest. However, like NPCs, player warrants can be issued when arresting them.
Success And Failure of Arrest
Arresting is not a guaranteed success and there are a variety of different variables that will determine whether you manage to arrest them or not. Players set up their arrest reactions, dependant on who is arresting them (see the Character options), while NPCs owned by a faction will use the reactions determine by the faction (see the Faction Page options). The person being arrested will determine which skills are used for the attempt, based on the reaction they choose. The possible reactions and the relevant skills are below:
Method || Primary Skill || Secondary Skill
Talk || Diplomacy || Trading
Run || Speed || Vigour
Hide || Target: Stealth; arrester: Perception || Dexterity
Fight || Strength || Projectile or Non-Projectile Weapons (whatever is higher)
Primary skills are used at their full value, while Secondary skills are used at half their value. There is also an element of randomness in the arrest chance.
Arrest Protection
If you are attempting to arrest a player or NPC that is not in or owned by your faction, and you fail, they will gain immunity to arrest. This immunity prevents anyone, from any faction arresting them, and lasts for 24 hours.
Releasing a prisoner, or failing to arrest a player or NPC in or owned by your faction will not activate this immunity.
You're Arrested, Now What?
When you are arrested, you will loose access to many of SWC features. These are primarily in-game activities, and being able to access forums etc will not be hindered. While arrested you can:
* not move freely - you are at the whims of other players who can move you around
* not access your Inventory pages (personal or faction)
* not access you Faction Page
* not leave or join a faction
* send Messages
* access the Forums
Release
You can be released at any time. A player or NPC can be released from arrest by a member of the arresting faction who has issue arrest privileges. A player or NPC can also be broken out of arrest by another character at the same location who has an Electronic Lock Breaker item equipped. The Stun Cuffs that were equipped on the arrested player will be dropped at that location.
Drop Character
If a character has been arrested for more then 3 weeks he will get the option to turn his character into an NPC and recreate as a new character. The NPC will have the same handle and race as the character had. Any assets will follow the same rules as when a character is killed. The button to drop your character will appear in The Interface area, under your character image three weeks after you have been arrested.
The waiting time after dropping a character is one week.
General Questions
What is the Star Wars Combine?
The Star Wars Combine is an interactive online Star Wars simulation. People play the Sim from diverse nations around the globe. The Star Wars Combine is 100% free of charge, and is a non-profit game.
In the Combine you will be allowed to create a character of your own with several different races to choose from. Upon character creation, you will have the option to join a group from a hefty list of candidates. Life in the Combine galaxy is just like stepping into George Lucas's epic Star Wars universe with the primary difference being that, in the Combine, there are none of the original Star Wars characters. No Luke Skywalker, no Leia Organa, no Mon Mothma, etc, etc. However, the setting and general plot are the same, the ongoing war between the Galactic Empire and Rebel Alliance.
What time period is the game set in?
Though it is difficult to assess the time in comparison to the movies (since events and people are different between the two), it has been generally agreed upon that this game is set within the area of Episode IV: A New Hope and Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. However, with the new movies and new ideas, we will be incorporating ships and systems from the new trilogy as well.
What would make me choose to play this game?
Well, the number one reason is that our game will be free (except, of course, the Internet access fees you have to pay anyway). No software to buy and no monthly fee to pay. The second reason is that you can help to develop this game how you would like it to. All you have to do is ask to help. Also, as a smaller community, there is more interaction and fun between other players.
How can I buy/sell a ship from other players?
First, the person who buys the ship (Luke) has to contact the person who sells the ship (Han). Next, Luke has to pay for the ship by clicking on transaction sheet/credits transaction/transfer credits. Afterward, Luke must write the name of receiver, amount and communication and then choose the receiver type. When all this has been done, Luke solidifies the credit transfer by clicking on the "transfer" button. To give Luke his ship after receiving payment, Han has to click on "ships" in his personal inventory and choose who he wants to give the ship to (faction or person). Han must then select the ship Luke paid for and click on "Make Over."
Be warned that there are no guarantees for trading in the Combine and theft is an ever-present factor in the game.
Can I kill another character?
Right now there are very few options to kill a character. A character can be executed, if they have had an arrest warrant issued on them and are currently under arrest. You can also kill yourself by flying into a sun, which also kills any other passengers located on that ship.
Why are the prices of the ships higher than those shown in the rules area?
The prices shown in the rules area are the prices of production. The real prices depend on the traders and the in-game demand for ships.
Can I have more than one character?
No, you are only allowed to have one character in the Combine. If your character dies you may create a new one after a period of time. Even if you leave your character for long periods of time, it is still best to try and log back in as that character or check with one of the administrators to see if your old character still exists before creating a new one.
Who developed/is developing the Combine?
The current and former staff of Combine can be found on the Contacts page under the link "The SWC Team".
Is the Combine affiliated with LucasArts?
The Combine is an independent game created by a group of people that love Star Wars. They are not part of LucasArts.
How do I pilot a ship or vehicle?
After you have entered the ship or vehicle there will be a few yellow squares at the bottom of the purple "Personal Data Assistant". If you can see a square with a stick man entering a cockpit, click it. After clicking it, the page will reload and below the link to position will be a "Enter Cockpit" link. Click that link and you will be in the cockpit.
How can I remake my character?
Once a character is made in the Combine, it cannot be altered. The only way a new character can be made is if your character dies. If stats are your concern, they can be upgraded as you progress in the game.
What are White Scenarios?
White scenarios are IC role-playing scenarios that have members of the combine performing actions through the forums. GM's monitor the scenarios and perform actions with NPC's. In White Scenarios there are no repercussions for being involved. If you die in one, you will still be alive in the Combine. Depending on how well you role-play in the scenarios you will be given experience points (XPs). You can find scenarios through the community links RPG Centre under Portals, and White Scenario Board under Affiliates.
Why must I wait a period of time to create a new character?
This delay was set in order to keep Combine players from creating, killing, and then recreating characters in hopes of getting a Force-sensitive one.
What server do I go to on IRC?
irc.swc-irc.com
What Messaging System do most members use?
Most members use either the Combine messaging system (often referred to as "Darkness Message") or utilize other "instant messaging" systems such as ICQ, AIM, or MSN.
Can more than one player use the same computer?
Yes, but you must register using the Multi-Accounts registration form. For more information check out http://rules.swcombine.com/?Character_Creation
What is IRC?
IRC is a instant messaging server. Most combine players use IRC as a primary form of communication to their factions. It is also used by the SWC's many traders and is generally the best way of selling/buying ships.
How do I register on IRC and what does it do?
Registering on IRC secures your user name to help make sure no one else can use it. To register you will need to type /msg NickServ REGISTER password e-mail (change e-mail and password to what you would like for them both [example /msg NickServ REGISTER 123456 example@hotmail.com) After this you’ll receive a conformation e-mail and every time you log in you will need to type in /msg NickServ IDENTIFY password
Can I also create a city?
Anyone can create a city, yes. However, there are some requirements to construct a city. The terrain square you selected must be non-volcanic. Also, either you or your faction must posses the required amount of credits it take a build a city. It costs 1,500,000 credits to build a city.
I must travel to a system but I don't know where it is.
If you want to find out where a system, sector, planet or city you have to travel to is then you can look at the galaxy map. It is easy to navigate and can be found here: http://rules.swcombine.com/galaxy/
How do I increase my skill points?
Every time you level, you receive a new skill point to use. These skill points can be allocated to your skills via the Character link on your right menu. However, such increases cannot be undone, and the definitions for skills which are not yet implemented may change in the future.
How long does my character stay in combine if I am not active anymore?
Characters with XP Level 1 are wiped after 9 months of inactivity, all characters above Level 1 are retrievable at any time. Dead characters, however, can never be retrieved.
This stat doesn't seem to do anything yet, why is it there?
Not all of the stats in the game have a use yet, but when the game is fully operational they will all have a use. You can view what your stats will be used for by reading through the various rules in the technical section.
How can I be in more than one IRC channel at once?
You will need to download mIRC a Chat Client from www.mirc.com. Download and install this and you can be in as many channels as you want! It also has other handy features to make chatting easier.
Technical Questions
I am a Gamorrean/Hutt etc. How come Darkness will not let me pilot a ship or vehicle?
Several races, as listed on the race page, cannot pilot certain ships and vehicles. It is best to check the restrictions and abilities of a race before choosing to play that race.
What are CPs (Combine Points)?
Main Article: Combine Points
The Combine Points are given to you by the admins for out of character (OOC) efforts you do to support and help the Star Wars Combine. You can exchange them for ships, vehicles and other inventory items (as they come available), some of which are only available through the CP exchange system.
How much experience do I need to raise up my Experience Level?
The needed experience is not the same for every level. To achieve level 2 you need 1000 experience, for level 3 - 3000. For level n you will need 1000 x (n-1) x n / 2. You can find a table with the experience points needed up to level 9 in the rules section.
What does NPC mean?
NPC = Non-Playing Characters. You can create them so they can work for you; control your NPC-ed ships, etc. Currently they are not implemented in the game.
What do I need to play the Combine in the terms of hardware, software, etc?
A computer capable of connecting to the Internet and a browser (Such as Firefox, IE6.0+, Opera, Mozilla, Netscape etc.)
How can I get CPs?
Main Article: Combine Points
1. You can add links to the Links Library (for every 5 links you can get 500 CPs)
2. You can join the Banner Exchange (1500CPs)
4. You can vote for this site on other site by clicking on links in 'support combine'
Do I have to download any software to play?
No, all that you need is a browser. However, it is agreed upon the Combine is most functional using FireFox.
Can I create a new faction?
Yes you can. To do so you will need to satisfy the conditions found on the Faction Creation rules.
How do I install the Star Wars Combine Links swcl_13.xpi on my Mozilla-Firefox browser?
Download the xpi file from the Firefox Extension located in The Guide under Portal. Open the file with Firefox and click on install. Then restart the browser. Done!
Rules Questions
Where can I find rules in Darkness?
You can find them and other information about the SWC at: http://rules.swcombine.com/
What happens if I die?
You lose all of your characters experience points, inventory and money. You will keep only your Combine Points and in three weeks you will be able to create a new character.
Is theft allowed in the Combine?
Theft occurs in the Combine. How your character reacts or performs it is up to you.
Why can I not change the details (like ownership) of a ship owned by a faction?
You can only change a ship's information if you own it. Ships given by a faction for your use are a privilege, and being such are not owned by you. This action was implemented in order to prevent theft of a faction's property
Is the Combine played in real time?
The Combine is played in delayed real time. For more information read http://rules.swcombine.com/general/timeframe/
What is spying and is it allowed?
Spying is when you infiltrate a faction in order to gain information for another faction or person. Currently it is not permitted. Full details on what you may and may not do in regards to spying can be found at http://rules.swcombine.com/general/spying .
What are raw materials?
Raw materials are the materials required to produce a certain piece of technology (ship, vehicle, weapon, etc.).
How can I die?
Currently there are only two ways to die: running a ship into a sun or getting your faction, or someone else, to execute you.
How do I get raw materials?
Raw materials can only be mined. Prospecting vehicles must be used to scan planets for deposits, and then a mining faction must construct a mine at the deposit location in order to mine the deposit for materials.
Getting Started Questions
Can I be a jedi?
Every race has its own force probability, giving you a chance to be born force sensitive. But if you are not, then you can still become one later by gaining experience and levels.
How can I earn credits?
1. You can join a faction that pays its members a salary and/or bonuses.
2. You can buy items and sell it for more.
3. You can collect CPs and exchange them for credits.
How can I get a ship or vehicle?
In the beginning of your IC life, the easiest way of getting a ship or vehicle is by joining a faction and be assigned one. Later on when you have enough money you can buy one for yourself. Another possibility is to exchange your CPs for some of the available ships and vehicles in the CP exchange.
Which faction should I join?
The choice is yours, but you shouldn't base all your decision on the movies. That depends on who you want your character to be - a rebel or an empire supporter, a bounty hunter, a trader, a pirate, a researcher, etc. If you want to fly an X-Wing or a Mon Calamari cruiser, then you should join the Rebel Alliance. If you prefer the Tie Fighters and the Star Destroyers then you should definitely join the Galactic Empire. Of course you can join any other faction as well, depending on your interests. And who says you have to join any at all?
How do I get more Credits?
The easiest way is to join a faction and receive a salary. You can also exchange CPs for credits. Or start your own business like transporting ships and passengers for credits. Another possibility is to get a loan from a Bank faction.
How can I get off my starting planet?
1. Join a faction, most offer transport to the planet you'll be working on, or supply a ship to fly around in.
2. Buy a ride from another player or a transport CMG, or rent a ship.
3. Save up CPs and exchange them for a ship.
4. Purchase a ship and have it moved to your location, to do this you'll need to earn some money first.
Why is the handle I selected declined?
1: It has to sound like a word (Ex: "bgfive" or "imlame" would not be accepted, while "John doe" would be)
2: It can not be the name of an star wars character, although using the first or last names is allowed (Ex: "Luke skywalker is not a legal handle, but "Luke deacon" or "Mike skywalker" would be)
3: No titles in your handle are allowed (Ex: no "Sir" "Darth" "Princess" "Dr." etc...)
4: All handles must have a capital for the first letter of the name (Ex: "john doe" is not legit, but "John doe" is)
5: No special chars in it other then spaces, -, or ' (Ex: "John5 doe" would be illegal, but "John'ell doe" would work)
Each handle is unique; if it's too close to the name of another character it will be declined. (Ex: if you try to set your handle as "Jennifer Dreighton" it will automatically fail, since there already is a "Jennifer Dreighton". You may have the same last name as another character, but you require their permission first. (Ex: There is a "Wilhelm von Ismay" and a "Victor von Ismay", but Wilhelm got Victor's permission before setting his last name to that).
How do I log in? It keeps refreshing the page.
First, use Lost Password to request a new password and log in with that. Be sure to paste or type it in exactly, as it is case sensitive.
If that fails, check to ensure that you are using the up to date version of Internet Explorer. Clear your cache (Tools->Internet Options->General->Delete Files) and make sure cookies are enabled (Tools->Internet Options->Privacy->adjust slider).
If you are still having no luck, consider temporarily trying an alternate browser such as [www.opera.com Opera] or [www.mozilla.org Mozilla].
How to change my location (travel)?
If you want to move from one position to another you have to go to position => travel => city => you can enter some coordinates. If you give coordinates from (0,0) to (21,21) when you are on foot (walking), you will travel only inside the city. If you want to go to another city you have to go to position => travel => cross terrain => then you can pick a position to where you want to go to.
I just created my character and assigned skill points. Where do I go and what do I do?
It's up to you. You can work alone and be a freelancer or you can join a faction. While being an independent freelancer may sound fun, it doesn't provide the benefits a faction does such as paychecks every month, a neat duty like piloting a ship or vehicle, and a place to call home. Visit http://www.swcombine.com/community/factions.php for more details on the various factions. If you are interested in a faction, it would not be a bad idea to check out that faction’s website, as well as contacting a member from the faction's recruiting office to get more information on that faction’s services and benefits.
How to Questions
How can I gain CPs?
Main Article: Combine Points
The easiest way is to click on the banners in the "Support The Combine" section of your account once per 24 hours. Suggesting planet descriptions, reporting bugs and typos, working on admin assignments or other ways of helping the development of the Combine can also be awarded. You can also buy CPs with exchange rate of 1000 CPs for every 1 Dollar /Euro you donate.
How can I improve my skills?
For every Experience Level you achieve, 1 skill point is added to your skill pool, which you can use to improve your skills, using the Character link on your right menu. However, skill increases cannot be undone, and it is possible that skill definitions for features not yet implemented may be changed in the future.
How can I get more experience?
For now you can get experience by flying ships and driving vehicles. Soon more IC ways will be added like Combat.
How can I send a message to another player?
Main Article: Darkness Message
Click on the Send message link in your menu (it looks like an envelope) then Send Message. Enter the handle of the recipient, choose if you want to send an anonymous message or not and enter the message itself.
How can I send credits to another player?
Click on the display of your current credits total in the right hand menu. This should bring up the Transfer Credits screen. Enter the handle of the character or the name of the faction to receive the credits, then enter the amount and add a comment if you want. Finally click Transfer.
How do I join a faction?
Click the Faction link on the right hand menu and then on Join Faction. Select the one you would want to join, add a message if you want, click submit and await further instructions. Generally allow up to 24-48 hours for a reply from the faction to see if you have been accepted or not.
How do I launch a missile, fire my blaster or beat up a Wookiee?
Combat is not yet implemented. It is possible to brawl with Brawler NPCs for experience points and factions have the ability to arrest and execute, but weapons cannot yet be used.
How do I report a bug?
If you encounter a bug, click on the Bug Form link on the right side menu. A new window will open. Then click on the Report Bug link. Please browse though the list of bugs to make sure that the bug you are reporting is a new one. If you find that your bug is already listed, add a comment to it stating your problem as well.
How can I support the Combine?
Main Article: Combine Points
There are many ways to support the Combine. You can click on the banners at the top of the screen. You can vote for the Star Wars Combine on one of the many sites that offer game rankings. For more information click on the link Support us under the about header on the right side menu of the Community section.
How do I enter a ship or vehicle?
Firstly, you have to be assigned to the crew list or set as owner/commander/pilot of the ship or vehicle to be able to board it. Once that is taken care of, click on "Position", then "Enter". If the above parameters are met, you should be able to see the ship. Click "Board".
How do I buy weapons/droids/items?
A few minor items can already be bought in Shop and Commerce Centre facilities. Shops can be found in most starting cities and are NPC-owned, while Commerce Centres are faction/player owned.
Otherwise, the majority of weapons, droids, and items can be purchased from the faction that produces them, which is displayed on the rules page for the item in question, or from players who already own them.
How can I help contribute to the Combine or the Administration?
There are many ways of contributing to the Combine. Constantly be on the look out on the Sim News. The different Administration sections are always looking for help that the "average Combiner" can do. Often you can earn CP's from helping. Such tasks are:
*Writing planet description
*Writing character descriptions
*Contribute Artwork
*Reporting bugs
*Reporting typos
How do I travel in a ship?
To move around within a ship, your status in the Control panel must be set to Position (as opposed to Cockpit -- see below).
To operate a ship, you first travel from the entrance room to the cockpit room (identified by a { on the diagram--your position is marked by a yellow dot). Once in the cockpit room, you "Enter Cockpit" (on the Control panel to the right)--but you can't do that unless your name has been entered as the pilot of the ship.
To lift off, hit the Travel button, then City, then Ascend. It takes an hour to reach (upper) atmosphere.
Once in the upper atmosphere, you need to reach orbit; this takes another hour. You do this from the Travel section by hitting Planet, then Orbit.
Once in orbit, you have to escape the gravity well of the planet you're orbiting; this is the section shaded in red on the display under Travel. Hit the Sublight button and click on some square that is not in the red. This should take roughly half an hour of travel.
Once out of the gravity well, you're free to go Hyper. Hit the Hyper button, then select from the menu of sectors (or choose a sector from the map of the galaxy), then select the desired system and Go.
N.B.: Don't try to abort once in Hyper. You can lose the ship and be killed that way, should you come out near a gravitating body.
Upon entering a system, you'll be still a bit out from your destination planet; you'll have to hit Sublight and indicate which planet you want to go to.
Upon arrival at the planet, you're in orbit. You can, at that point, change over to any other ship also in orbit for which you are listed as a Crewmember. To do this, Travel to that room in the ship which has the exit, hit Enter, and select from among ships to which you have entree.
To land a ship on the ground, you must reverse the lift-off procedure: First hit Planet, then Reentry (and you can select your destination square on the planet); that takes an hour to put you in atmosphere. Once in atmosphere, you land by hitting Descend in the Travel section (and you can select your destination square in the city). Once landed, you can leave the ship by travelling to an exit room and hitting Unboard.
When you have been assigned as Pilot to a ship, you can then manage the crewlist. You do this with the Crewlist button on the bottom of the panel.
Summary:
*Travel: Board
*Control: Position: Travel to cockpit room
*Control: Enter Cockpit
*Travel: City: Ascend
*Travel: Planet: Orbit
*Travel: Sublight: Go
The Star Wars Combine is a game set in the Star Wars Universe. The game has been online since 1998 and although it is technically a browser game, it sees itself rather as an MMORPG. It is programmed and run entirely by volunteers, so playing is free. There are no monthly charges and no premium features that are restricted to players who register a paid account.
The game is player driven, all roles - from the emperor or commander of the Rebel Alliance to the fighter pilots - are open for player characters. Combat is not implemented yet, but the player driven economy offers many options to mine, trade or build cities, facilities and stations.
Any new player can create their individual character selecting from various skills and more than 50 different races from Star Wars (Wookies, Twi`leks etc). They can then join an existing group - from the infamous Empire to less famous smaller production, trading or even pirate groups - and later found their own company.
There are more than 5,000 planets that can be explored and colonised. Player characters can own their own ships, vehicles, buildings, cities or even companies. Also player groups ('factions') can be owners of anything, setting the Star Wars Combine apart from alliances and guilds in many other similar games.
The Star Wars Combine offers many roles to choose from and thus allows the player to not only live their own dream of being whatever they want in the Star Wars universe, but also to adapt the game to their favoured style of play, playing the game as more of an adventure, a strategy game, a business sim, or just enjoying the lively community of like minded gamers and Star Wars fans.
Despite the current lack of combat the Star Wars Combine offers a complexity and variety rather unusual for free browser games. If you like Star Wars, you should really give it a go.
Ryan Rochehttp://guide.swcombine.com/index.php?title=Wiki_Guide_Editing&diff=401Wiki Guide Editing2010-07-10T10:22:00Z
Ryan Roche:
If you are looking to help update this Guide Wiki in order to help out, please read the follow information before making any changes.
Working on the Wiki
If you wish to help out on the wiki, please create a new account using your SWC handle. This helps the administration to reward those players that help out considerably. There are two things you can do to pages, Edit or Create.
Editing
Likely you will be primarily editing pages that have already been created. All changes can be removed and the original work restored so don't worry about being able to destroy everything. Then again, if you don't know what you are doing please refrain for editing as it just creates more work for others.
Click the 'Edit' link at the top of each page to open the editing window. You will see special codes which if you are not used to wiki's may be weird. See the relevant section below for more information on the codes. When editing, you can type where ever you want to fix spelling errors, or add additional information. If you are making minor changes, such as adding links, or fixing errors, please tick the 'minor edit' check box just above the save page button.
If you are making a link to another wiki page, please check that you have the right page name. In wiki's names are very sensitive so 'The Force', 'the force', 'Force' and 'force' will all go to separate pages (these can be linked to one later however). If you are unsure of the correct page name, please do not insert a link and the moderators will do that for you.
Creating
You create a new page when you click on a red link that appear on an already present page. This will allow you to enter in information and create the page. When making a new page, please be aware of other similar pages to get a feel for the layout and style of the system we use.
If you are making a new page, please read up on the different formatting styles there are (below) in order to have the page look presentable after you finish. If you are unsure about anything, leave it formatting-free and one of the moderators will be around and fix it up. Once you have typed everything up, it is best to copy all the text before pressing the [Save page] button. This is because you may have lost your net connection or something else that prevents your page from being saved on the wiki, and having to re-type everything is not something you will want to go through.
If you are making a link to another wiki page, please check that you have the right page name. In wiki's names are very sensitive so 'The Force', 'the force', 'Force' and 'force' will all go to separate pages (these can be linked to one later however). If you are unsure of the correct page name, please do not insert a link and the moderators will do that for you.
Also, images are a useful visual method to show what you are talking about. Please ensure that any images on your page are not too large that they take up the whole space - use thumbnails to give a smaller image which can then be clicked onto get a larger one. See the 'Images' section below.
Images
On the wiki, we can upload images to be used on pages to give a visual indication of what the text is explaining. When making images to complement text, please use the Dark Blue theme skin on SWC, and ensure all icons and text are set to normal size. This is to ensure that everything is consistent and allow reference for players from one page to another.
Also, please ensure that you use the minimum area required to show off what you want. Please no full-screen captures just posted in. Use an image editing software (like Photoshop) to cut out the area of the screen you need. Please save images in .png format to avoid too much loss in quality. When saving, please make the name of the image relevant to what you have an image about. Saving as 'Image1.png' helps no-one. Saving as 'Pevent.gif' is Personal Event icon.
Use the Upload file link on the left to upload your image. Once you have uploaded the image it will give you the file name (it will make sure that the first letter is capitalised). To use the image, you will need the image formating:
Add image ((File:Pevent.png))
Replace the () with the square brackets []
You can also add extra bits onto the end, and these are explained below.
Commands
Wiki's have special formatting tags they use, and the more common ones you may need are as follows (replace () with [], replace \ with | and replace ` with ' in the following codes):
``italic`` || italic || makes text italic
```bold``` || bold || makes text bold
((IRC)) || IRC || makes a link to a wiki page
((IRC\I love me)) || I love me || makes a link to a wiki page, but with the text 'I love me' showing on the page rather than IRC
(http://mylink.com My Link) || My Link || Provides a link to an external site, with the text My Link being highlighted
((File:Pevent.png)) || -- || shows an image hosted on the wiki site with that name
((File:Pevent.png\right\My Pictures)) || -- || as above, but you can say where on the page it goes (left, right, center), and text to be shown on the tooltip

How Does Trading Work?
Trading
Important things to keep in mind:
In the Combine, stealing from players through trading is an acceptable In Character action and is, therefore, neither punished nor undone. As such, it is strongly advised that traders not send first to others they do not already trust. If you doubt the honesty of the other party, then use a respected middleman. If you aren't sure who to trust, the best thing to do is to consult established Trader Reputation lists (see below). If you have IRC access, you may also consider asking around in the #SWC-Traders channel on irc.swc-irc.com (See IRC section below).

Known Thieves and Middlemen
An up to date version of known thieves and trusted middlemen, located in the Traders Lounge.
http://www.swcombine.com/forum/thread.php?thread=9177&page=0

Enigma Traders Reputation List
Names in bold black are known thieves, whereas names in bold green are trusted middlemen. This list is no longer updated.
http://www.xrz.nl/traderslist.htm

Trader's Protection Agency
The TPA listing is no longer updated, but still contains useful information on known thieves.
http://p221.ezboard.com/ftradersprotectionagencyfrm16.showMessage?topicID=8.topic

The idea behind trading is to buy and sell ships, vehicles, cities, buildings, and other assets in order to make a profit. At this time, most trading takes part in the IRC trading channel, in the Combine's RPG Centre forums, and on some private markets run by various factions. When visiting #SWC-Traders on IRC, you will see people using the following abbreviations:

WFS - What's for sale?
This is asking the traders in the room what they are selling.

FS - For sale
When you are trying to sell something, you would add FS as the start then the type of ships (e.g. FS: YT-1300, 2 Firesprays).

FT - For trade
This means someone has a ship they wish to trade for another type of ship (e.g. FT: YT-510).

FA - For auction
When something is for auction, normally the trader auctioning the item off will provide a link to the auction listing, or it will be online in another channel (e.g. FA: Carrack Cruiser - come to #my_room to bid).

WTB - Want to Buy
When looking to buy a specific item, use this (e.g. WTB: Y-Wing).

When selling a ship, you may be asked to assign the ship first before making it over, and it is recommended that you ask the same of a seller if you are looking to buy a ship, if you have any doubts that they own it. Always avoid sending first to traders you do not trust, or are not listed as reputable. If the other party refuses to send first or to use a middleman, there is a high likelihood that they are trying to steal from you.

Prices and Markets
The Combine has an official market built into its interface, accessed through the 'Market' link on the right-hand menu (or through http://www.swcombine.com/members/market/ directly). To buy from or sell to the market, you must be on a trading station or inside a commerce centre facility. In case your faction cannot provide you access to such a facility, the faction Centrepoint Space Station hosts a listing of public trading stations at http://www.centrepointstation.com/services/markets.php. It is best to purchase items as close to your location as possible, since the closer you are to the item you are buying, the less it will cost you. When you purchase it from the market, it is made over to you immediately. Not many traders sell to this market as doing so is not very profitable, so the majority of assets available at any given time are usually the former possessions of a character that has recently died.

The Centrepoint Space Station trading faction also hosts a private market on its own website (referred to as Centrepoint Market, or CPM, and located at http://market.centrepointstation.com/), and this is what most traders use. This market can be compared to eBay, in that traders can post listings for items they are selling and other traders can bid on them or buy them out, but the items are not transferred immediately. The traders must contact each other to complete the transaction, and it is strongly recommended that a trusted middleman is used. This offsite market (linked in Useful Links below) is not officially affiliated with the Combine, and as such, any problems with it need to be directed to the faction hosting it.

The prices listed in the rules section of the Combine's website are only the raw production cost of each item. This is bound to be a much lower price than you will be able to purchase the items for from other players. Prices are constantly changing depending on how desirable the item in question is, how many are available to the public, and how much sellers are willing to sell for. Faction-specific items, such as TIE Fighters and A-Wings, are generally not available to the public. In the rare instance that some are successfully stolen from their faction, they tend to sell for hundreds of millions of credits.

What is IRC?
IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat and it is a method for chatting with others on the internet. IRC allows you to chat in rooms called IRC channels with multiple people at the same time. These rooms can be set public, to allow anyone to participate, or private, in case a Combine faction or smaller group prefers a room of their own to use for specific members only. IRC also allows you to chat privately with another person, like an instant messenger, so that nobody can listen in on your conversation.

Which program should I download?
There are many programs out there. For PCs the most popular is mIRC, which is available at http://www.mirc.com. The program is shareware, but can be used for free indefinitely. This guide will be explaining from the mIRC perspective, since it is, by far, the most commonly used IRC client available, and is the only program officially supported by the IRC help staff.

However, if you find mIRC too complicated, or if you simply do not intend to access IRC regularly enough to bother downloading a client, you can use the JavaChat link at the top of the page located here. This is a program that will open directly in your browser and defaults to the Combine's technical support channel where you can talk with the Combine's help staff live. Please note that an answer will not always come immediately, so patience is needed. Helpers volunteer their time, and do not always respond within the first 2 minutes of you coming online asking "can I get some help?" so it is best to ask your question right away upon entering, or type people's names to get their attention as many helpers set their clients to alert them when their name is entered.

Please note that it is recommended that you change your name to something other than the default SWC_Member, especially if you are having difficulties connecting, because on any IRC server, multiple people cannot have the same name. This will also make it easier for others to identify and address you.

mIRC Download and Installation
After following the download link on http://www.mirc.com, save the program to a location on your computer that you will remember (such as your desktop), and double-click the installation file to run it. Follow all of the on screen instructions, as it will walk you quickly through the process.

Logging In
After opening the program and passing the pop-up screen that has the Author on it (by clicking on it), the Options window will come up. On the left hand side there is a directory tree marked "Category". To the right of that are all the options for each category.

Go to Connect > Servers

There are several servers that the program comes with but the Combine's server is not one of the defaults.

Press [Add] and fill in the following information

Description: SWC:irc.swcombine.com
IRC Server: irc.swcombine.com
Port(s): 6667
Group SWC

No Password is needed

Press [OK]

(Description can be anything, but for simplicity sake, it is a good idea to add the "SWC" and the server address. Some networks include multiple servers that are linked together, so they should all have a similar name, but that does not apply for the Combine.)

Now that you have entered the information and saved it, under IRC Server it should read SWC:irc.swcombine.com . If it does not, press the expand down arrow and search for it, then select it.

Press [Connect to Server]

Entering a Channel
After you have logged in, a list of default IRC channels comes up in a popup screen. These are only general suggestions built into mIRC, and on the SWC server, none of them are actual channels (rooms). If you want you can delete them all.

In the box under Enter a channel name and click join: type in one of the following suggested channels to start off with:

#SWC-Members
#SWC-Traders

Then click Join. You are now in that channel. To join another channel type the following line:

/join #channelnamehere

Channel names cannot include spaces.

The List of Channels
To view the list of all of the channels on the server that are not hidden, type:

/list

The list will come up in a separate window and will show you the channel name and topic, as well as the number of members in the channel.

Registering your IRC nickname
You must register your nick with the server before anyone can give you special access (more on special access later) such as a voice, an op, or even access to a hidden channel. This will also ensure that others do not use your name, so registering your nick is highly recommended.

Type /msg nickserv REGISTER password email

where "password" is one that you choose and "email" is your email address. For another explanation of the command, you can type /msg nickserv help register

Identifying
Once your nick is registered, every time you connect to the server you must identify with nickserv, or nickserv will think you are stealing someone else's nick and will change your nick to an anonymous one with a string of numbers attached. IE: swcmember12345678

To identify, type /identify password

Note: All nicks trying to join #SWC-Members or #SWC-Traders with the name swcmember###### will automatically get kicked from that room.

Basic Commands
The following are some basic commands to get you started.

/me
Type this when you want to perform an action. For example, "/me goes to work" will show up as * SWC_Member goes to work

/join #channel
Replace #channel with the name of the channel to join that channel.

/msg nickserv group OriginalNick password
Change your nick to the new one that you want then type this command to link to your registered nick. You can only do this every 300 seconds.

/nick name
Where name is the new name you want as a nickname. Changes your nick.

/query username
Opens up a new window with another person

/part #channel descrip
Causes you to leave a channel and descrip is a parting message

/msg text here
Allows you to send text to another user without opening a query screen

Need to leave a message for someone who is offline? Here are the commands for Memoserv

/memoserv help
Gives a description for memoserv
/memoserv help commands
Gives a list of commands

Replace any command name in place of commands for more help on those.

To send a memo:
/memoserv send nickname|channel text-here-for-the-message
Example: /memoserv send SWC_Member Hi SWC_Member, how are you doing?

To read your memo(s)
/memoserv list
Lists the memo(s) waiting for you in your inbox.

IRC Services Shortcuts
/msg nickserv & /msg chanserv can be shortened on the irc.swcombine.com server by type /ns & /cs

NickServ Help: /ns help commands
ChanServ Help: /cs help commands

This will output their respective commands. For help on a specific command, type the same thing again, but replace the word "commands" with that command. For example, if you want help with ChanServ's "set" command, you would type: /cs help set

Be aware, however, that not all IRC clients support these shortcuts. If you receive an error message when using /ns or /cs, you may need to use the long format instead (/msg nickserv and /msg chanserv).

Auto Tasking
It is possible to set mIRC to automatically identify you or join specific channels or perform other such commands for you when you connect. This can save you the effort of needing to enter all of your commonly used commands manually every time you visit IRC.

Click Options [ icon 2nd to the left and has a hammer and a file]
Under Connect > Options > Perform
Checkmark "Enable perform on connect"
If the SWC is the only network you use follow Step 1 Those who use different networks follow Step 2:

Step 1: Leave Network: as "All Networks"
Under Perform commands:
Enter /identify password and your /join commands
Make sure you put each command on its own line

Step 2: Click Add Network
If you cannot see your network, you have to go to the Connect > Servers and edit your network with a Group name
Then go back to Options > Perform and Add the Network
In the drop down box, select that network
Add specific commands for that network

Setting up a New Channel
To setup a new channel, first type /join #newchannel, where #newchannel is the name of the channel you want to set up. Make sure it is not registered already. You can tell by the +r at the top of the screen next to the name

Once you are in the channel, to register it, it is best that no one else is in the channel.

You must have a registered nick to register a channel:

/cs register #channel password description
#channel = the channel name you want to register
password = the password you want to set up for changing settings
description = a brief description of what the channel is for

/cs help register gives a more in-depth description of registering

Now leave and re-enter your new channel. If you are using mIRC you can type /hop to leave and re-enter.

You now have a . in front of your name, which indicates that you are the founder of the channel.

Channel Privileges
Have you wondered what all the @ % and + symbols next to people's names mean?
They represent channel privileges and have the following significance:

. is Founder
@ is Op (Operator)
% is Half-Op
+ is Voiced (If the channel has +m on, anyone without at least a + cannot speak, but voice has no other function, whereas the other access levels do.)

The Channel Founder is the only one who can change the permanent settings for that channel.
If you want a cofounder, they need to type this line in once with their registered nickname. /cs identify #channelname password

OPs, depending if they are SOP or AOP can change the room topic, kick/ban people and give privs that are below their level.

HalfOPs(%) can kick people halfop and lower, and can give a halfop but cannot add an automatic halfop. HOPs(%) can give automatic voice (+) though.

Voice can speak if the room is moderated(+m), but is usually just granted to set a user apart from others.

The Access List
/cs access #channel list lists everyone who has a privilege on that channel.

Part A: Follow this if your channel has the access list enabled, if you get the following messages, " -ChanServ- You can't use this command." and "-ChanServ- Use the AOP, SOP and VOP commands instead." then follow Part B

/cs access #channel add nick +30,40,50,100 adds a person to the Access List.
+0 Default level, you don't need to add this level
+30 Voice (+)
+40 Halfop (%)
+50 AOP (Auto-OP) (@)
+100 SOP (Super-OP) (@)

/cs access #channel del nick removes a person from the Access List.
/cs access #channel add nick -100 chanserv automatically bans the person

Part B: Follow this if your status screen said to use the AOP, SOP and VOP commands instead.

/cs vop #channel add nick Adds a person to the VOP list (+)
/cs hop #channel add nick Adds a person to the HOP list (%)
/cs aop #channel add nick Adds a person to the AOP list (@)
/cs sop #channel add nick Adds a person to the SOP list (@)

If you prefer the Part A method then type /cs set #channel XOP off
This will remove the XOP feature and allow you to use /cs access #channel add nick +#

Permanent Channel Modes
Restricted Access: /cs set #channel restricted on/off
Restricted Access means that in order to enter the channel, you must be on the access list with any level greater than 0.

Modes: /cs set #channel mlock modes
+s Secret mode (cannot see it in /list unless you're in the channel)
+p Private mode (cannot see it in /list unless you're in the channel)
+i Invite Only
+m Moderated mode (users without a +, %, @, or . in the channel cannot speak.)

For more help type:
/cs help set
/cs help set restricted
/cs help set mlock

Colors, Bold, Underline, Etc.
Colors: Hold down Ctrl + K
Follow this with the following format #,#
Where the first # is the text and the 2nd after the comma is background

A window pops up with all the available colors.

Bold Text: Hold down Ctrl + B (the same again cancels it)
Underlined Text: Hold down Ctrl + U (the same again cancels it)

Other Stuff
Scripts, such as /away scripts, trivia scripts, !seen scripts, or any other public scripts are not allowed in #SWC- channels, so make sure that they are disabled.

Bot scripts are not allowed on this server without advance permission. To obtain permission for your bot, mail the code and the name of the bot to chat@swcombine.com and one of the IRC staff members will respond to approve it.

If you have any questions regarding this server, ask one of the staff in the #Help channel (you may need to say their names to draw their attention, since most have highlights set up to alert them if they are at their computers). The list of who they are is listed in the Message of the Day (MOTD) in the status screen when you first connect to the server, and can be pulled up at anytime by typing /motd into your IRC client. For your convenience, they are listed here as well.

Current Staff Listing: Accessible from /motd in the status screen.

Nova Crystals are an item that is controlled by The Krath Dynasty, a faction in SWC. They are used as an alternative form of currency to the credit, though not accepted by the server as payment for server based activities (such as building, Prospecting etc), it is used primarily between factions and players in exchange for using credits.

What Are They?
Nova Crystals are small items that are manufactured by The Krath Dynasty for use as its currency. Produced in a factory like any other item, they are strictly controlled by The Krath Dynasty to ensure that the value of the currency does not change beyond their control. To this regard they have two forms of Nova Crystal: Secure Nova Crystal and Mobile Nova Crystal.

Secure Nova Crystal
This is the primary form used, and involved the items being kept in a secure warehouse where very few people have access to. They are not removed under any conditions. However ownership of the items are made over to various players and factions as needs be, and this allows for instantaneous transfer, making it similar to credit transactions.

Mobile Nova Crystal
This form is rarely used. If a player or faction wishes to gain possession of their Nova Crystal, they would take this form. This is then put into a secure location so that it can be picked up by the new owner.

Why Use Them?
The Krath Dynasty and affiliates use them for monthly salaries for their members, rather than credits like other factions use. It gives a different RP flavour for payment over the standard credit that everyone else uses.

Their Value
Obviously, since they are used in lieu of credits they must have a value. Initially Nova Crystals had a set value of 1 NC = 50,000 credits, however changes to the system allowed for a variance on the value of an individual Nova Crystal based on market prices of a variety of different entities. This means that what you get paid today, will still be worth the same with regards to a vehicle or ship etc the next day, which is not usually the case with credits.

How Do I Get Some?
This is simple. Contact the banking representative at The Krath Dynasty and they will give you all the details needed to cover your inquiry.

Repair
Travel
Travel XP will vary depending on which type of travel, and how far you go. Ascending/Descending and Cross-Terrain travel will net you a flat 5XP. Any other form of travel will give you a different amount depending on the distance you travel.

White Scenarios
Participating in White Scenarios will gain you varying XP amounts based on the quality and quantity of writing you perform, and the moderators discretion.

'Using' XP
As XP accumulates, it will head towards the various thresholds that are required for each level. On the sidebar, you will see your current XP amount, and how many more you need to reach the next level, along with a coloured bar that gives a visual interpretation of how much more you have to go.

Once you reach sufficient XP to meet these threshold amounts you will gain a new level. As part of this your HP will increase, and you will gain one more skill point that you can use to upgrade your Skills.

Doors and locks are used to restrict travel between two different rooms.

Requirements
You need to meet several requirements in order to be able to make or upgrade a door. You will need a Tookit equipped to one of your hand slots. You will also need to be one of the following to make or upgrade a door :

* The owner of the entity
* The commander of the entity
* A member of a faction that is the commander of the entity

In addition, if you wish to downgrade a lock, change the password, or unlock the door, you will need to be:

* The owner of the entity
* The commander of the entity
* A member of a faction that is the commander of the entity, with 'Makeover' privs for the entity, 'May Change Door Codes' privs, or have the passcode

Making a Door
In order to make a door you need to meet the above requirements. Once this is done you will need to be in one of the rooms you wish to create a door between. Once you are in position, you can follow the below instructions:

* ::Control::
* Click [Position].
* Click on [Actions] on the central horizontal bar.
* Click on the [Locks] button on the left.
* Click on the [Install] button on the row that corresponds to the direction you wish to install the door.
* Enter a password, and click the [Submit button].

The passcode cannot be more than 10 characters in length, and nor can it be empty.

Success and Failure
Your success at making a door or upgrading one follows the following equation: Chance to Install: (100 - (Lock Level *35 )) + (Theft/Deceit * 15)

Where lock level corresponds to:

Door Type || Lock Level ||
None || 0 ||
Standard || 1 ||
Reinforced || 2 ||
Blast || 3 ||

If you fail the lock process, you will not receive any XP for the process. In addition there is a 50% chance that you will loose 2-10 HP.

Time
Making a door or upgrading a lock takes time, dependant on its difficulty:

Installation Time (hours): Lock Level * 4

Upgrading/Downgrading a Lock
This is very similar to making a door, however there are some subtle differences. You need slightly different access levels (see above) in order to downgrade a lock (upgrading however is fine). Doors must be unlocked when upgrading/downgrading, and cannot be locked again until the upgrading/downgrading procedure is finished. To upgrade/downgrade a lock you need to:

* ::Control::
* Click [Position].
* Click on [Actions] on the central horizontal bar.
* Click on the [Locks] button on the left.
* Click on the [Upgrade] or [Downgrade] button on the row that corresponds to the lock you wish to modify.
* (type in password if you are needed to).

Locking/Unlocking a Door
In order to lock a door you just need to be inside. In order to unlock the door you will need to be:

* The owner of the entity
* The commander of the entity
* A member of a faction that is the commander of the entity, with 'Makeover' privs for the entity, 'May Change Door Codes' privs, or have the passcode

A commander will always be required to enter the passcode to unlock a door. To lock/unlock a door:

* ::Control::
* Click [Position].
* Click on [Actions] on the central horizontal bar.
* Click on the [Locks] button on the left.
* Click on the [Lock] or [Unlock] button on the row that corresponds to the lock you wish to modify.
* (type in password if you are needed to).

Changing a Passcode
Passwords can be changed from the lock screen. Commanders are required to enter the previous password as well as a new password in order to change the password. Owners are only required to enter a new password.

Passing Through a Locked Door
You will need to either have the passcode to the door and enter it each time you pass through, or have a Keycard with the relevant passcode stored in it. Such a Keycard will only work if it is equipped to the Belt or Hand slot, or stored inside an item that is itself equipped to the Belt slot.

Keys
Keycards are used to pass through locked doors. They can store up to 20 different passcodes. The are created with Crafting.

Storing a Passcode
Breaking a Lock
In order to break a lock you will need a Electronic Lock Breaker equipped to one of your hands. If you try to move through a locked door you will be given the option to break the lock. Depending on your ability and the lock level there will be different chances of success:

Chance to Succeed: ((Theft/Deceit+1)/7)*(0.02*Theft/Deceit+1)*((Theft/Deceit+0.1)/5) * (2/(2^Lock Level))*100

If you fail, there is chance your Lockbreak will break:

Chance to Break Lockbreaker: ((6 - Theft/Deceit) * Lock Level)

Once a lock is broken, it will be set to Unlocked. However the door can still be locked again without further upgrading or repair. There is also a 50% chance that the owner of the entity you are in will receive an event about you breaking the lock.

Research and Development (R&D) is a planned feature for SWC. Currently it is not being actively developed, however there is a large entity list already drawn up in preparation. From what is known, R&D will follow a Tech Tree progression system, and you will need to have access to a Datacard in order to research other entities up and down the tree. You will be able to see several steps both up and down the Tech Tree from the datacards you have access to, but you will not be able to see beyond this.

You will presumably require an R&D station or Research Lab facility in order to perform R&D, and there is a possibility that you will require some Raw Materials in order to start/finish a project.

Death happens to all things, in one way or another. In SWC there are numerous ways you can die, however you can always come back as another character and try things differently.

How can you die?
* Characters with XP level 1 are purged after 9 months of inactivity.
* Aborting a hyperspace jump and emerging from hyperspace directly into a star.
* Flying directly into a sun or through a black hole.
* Entering Hyper from within a grav well in a sufficiently damaged ship.
* Being executed.
* Your HP falls to -10 or below (i.e. you are dead):
-At zero, you drop into unconsciousness, and at -10, you are dead.
-At zero, your ability to perform actions is severed, but you can have healing done until you are at -10.
-At -11, the only interaction you could probably have with other people is when they loot your body.

The -10 limit is for all players, regardless of their HP.

What happens to you?
After death you must wait 3 weeks before being able to rejoin as a playing character. During the 'death wait', the only Darkness ability available will be to view CPs. At any time during the three weeks, when you login to Darkness or the members page a 'change name' box will prompt to select a new name. The name of a dead character will not be reusable, so a new character name will have to be selected.

What happens to your assets?
* When a character dies, all equipped items drop to the ground at that Position.
* Any credits owned by the dead character are deleted.
* Ships, vehicles, space stations, facilities, items, droids, and NPCs with a pilot/operator/supervisor assigned will be transferred to the pilot/operator/supervisor.
* Ships, vehicles, space stations, facilities, items, droids, and NPCs with no pilot/operator/supervisor assigned will be transferred to the commander/manager.
* Ships, vehicles, space stations, facilities, items, and droids that are not assigned at all go to the market, after a random delay between 7 and 31 days for each asset.
* Cities go to the market, after a random delay between 7 and 31 days for each city.
* NPCs that are not assigned to anyone are deleted.
* Raw materials are transferred to the owner of the entity in which they are contained.
* Stocks are transferred to the Faction Leader.
* If a character dies in an explosion, such as flying into a sun or by exiting hyperspace, then everything on board the entity is destroyed.
* Entities assigned to the dead character but owned by another party remain the property of their owners.
* If a Faction Leader dies, leadership will be transferred to the 2nd In Command (2IC). If there is no 2IC, it is transferred to the faction member who has the next highest privileges rating. If there is more than one person with the most privileges, one is randomly selected.
* If a Faction Owner dies then his faction ownership (or stocks) will be transferred to the Faction Leader.

What happens to your body?
* The body will decompose and disappear after 3 weeks.
* A Trophy Ear can be taken from a body with any Slashing Weapon.

Recreating your character
As soon as your character dies you can go to the Character page and select the new handle you wish to use. This handle needs to be approved by an admin before you can create your character. If you change your mind you may submit other handles for approval right up until you create your new character.

What happens to your Items
Since your new character has no relation to your old character (the server does not recognize family relations, even if you choose to roleplay as the family member of your old character), your old character's assets cannot be returned to you. You are not allowed to make a will of any sort that would result in your new character getting your old character's items. Doing so is a violation of the Golden Rule (IC/OOC separation) and will be punished.

Ryan Rochehttp://guide.swcombine.com/index.php?title=Arrest_and_Execute&diff=370Arrest and Execute2010-07-09T09:15:01Z
Ryan Roche:

Arrest and Execute is the primary form of combat currently used against different players. It is more a form of police action than full blown combat, and as such there are a number of restrictions on who can use it, and where.

What Do I Need?
In order to be able to perform an arrest and an execution, you need to meet some requirements:

* Be a member of a faction
* Have the 'Arrest' privilege
* Have a pair of Stun Cuffs equipped in your hands (if arresting a player)
* Meet one of the territory requirements below

Government, Mercenaries, Bounty Hunter and Security Factions
These four factions are special in that they can arrest over a large variety of locations. They can both arrest their own members and NPCs (called In Faction arrest, or IF A/E) at any time, and in any location, regardless of which faction's territory they are in. They can arrest the members and NPCs of other factions and players (called Out Of Faction arrest, or OOF A/E) in the following areas:

* Any planet they control
* Any system they control
* Any sector they control
* Any capital ship they own
* Any space station they own
* Deep Space and uncontrolled sectors

These factions can also be authorised by other factions to be able to perform OOF arrests in any of their terrain, classified as below.

All Other Factions
All other factions are limited to arresting their own members (called In Faction arrest, or IF A/E). They can arrest their own members and NPCs at any time, and in any location, regardless of which faction's territory they are in. They can authorise Government, Mercenaries, Bounty Hunter and Security factions to arrest in their territory however, classified as the following areas:

* Any planet they control
* Any system they control
* Any sector they control
* Any capital ship they own
* Any space station they own

Special Exceptions
There are several special conditions that modify who can arrest at a location:

* Uncontrolled systems are considered territory for the faction that controls the sector it is in
* Uncontrolled planets are considered territory for the faction that controls the system it is in
* Capital ships in hyperspace are considered territory for the faction that owns it, otherwise no arrest is possible in hyperspace
* Docked entities that are inside a Capital ship or Space Station are considered territory of the faction that owns the Capital ship or Space Station
* The square above a planet is considered territory of that planet's controller, regardless of if the system controller is different

How Do I Arrest?
You will need to meet the requirements above. In addition, you will need to be at the same location as the player of NPC you are trying to arrest. You will need to have an Arrest Warrant issued before arresting (see below), otherwise you will not be able to arrest them. Once you have a warrant you need to use the Position page to initiate your arrest, as follows:

* ::Control::
* Click [Position].
* Click the [Scanner] button on the central horizontal bar.
* Scroll through the list on the left to the player or NPC you wish to arrest.
* Click the [Arrest] button underneath their name.
* Click the confirmation button that appears on the right.
* If there is no warrant, or you are arresting an NPC, you will be required to issue a warrant before confirmation.
* The player or NPC is now arrested.

They will have the Arrest overlay put over their avatar image, allowing you to tell which are arrested, and which are not. In addition the Stun Cuffs will be unequipped from you and equipped on the arrested players hands (if you are arresting a player).

Issuing a Warrant
Warrants can be issued for both players and NPCs. NPCs do not have unique names, and so the warrant must be issued just as you arrest them. Players do have unique names, and so can have arrest warrants issued a long time before the arrest attempt is made. This is useful for preparing warrants and allowing members that do not have the 'Issue Arrest Warrant' Privilege to be able to arrest. However, like NPCs, player warrants can be issued when arresting them.

Success And Failure of Arrest
Arresting is not a guaranteed success and there are a variety of different variables that will determine whether you manage to arrest them or not. Players set up their arrest reactions, dependant on who is arresting them (see the Character options), while NPCs owned by a faction will use the reactions determine by the faction (see the Faction Page options). The person being arrested will determine which skills are used for the attempt, based on the reaction they choose. The possible reactions and the relevant skills are below:

Method || Primary Skill || Secondary Skill
Talk || Diplomacy || Trading
Run || Speed || Vigour
Hide || Target: Stealth; arrester: Perception || Dexterity
Fight || Strength || Projectile or Non-Projectile Weapons (whatever is higher)

Primary skills are used at their full value, while Secondary skills are used at half their value. There is also an element of randomness in the arrest chance.

Arrest Protection
If you are attempting to arrest a player or NPC that is not in or owned by your faction, and you fail, they will gain immunity to arrest. This immunity prevents anyone, from any faction arresting them, and lasts for 24 hours.

Releasing a prisoner, or failing to arrest a player or NPC in or owned by your faction will not activate this immunity.

You're Arrested, Now What?
When you are arrested, you will loose access to many of SWC features. These are primarily in-game activities, and being able to access forums etc will not be hindered. While arrested you can:

* not move freely - you are at the whims of other players who can move you around
* not access your Inventory pages (personal or faction)
* not access you Faction Page
* not leave or join a faction
* send Messages
* access the Forums

Release
You can be released at any time. A player or NPC can be released from arrest by a member of the arresting faction who has issue arrest privileges. A player or NPC can also be broken out of arrest by another character at the same location who has an Electronic Lock Breaker item equipped. The Stun Cuffs that were equipped on the arrested player will be dropped at that location.

Drop Character
If a character has been arrested for more then 3 weeks he will get the option to turn his character into an NPC and recreate as a new character. The NPC will have the same handle and race as the character had. Any assets will follow the same rules as when a character is killed. The button to drop your character will appear in The Interface area, under your character image three weeks after you have been arrested.

The waiting time after dropping a character is one week.
